The nearest and most convenient airports are Salzburg, Innsbruck or Munich. There are regular flights to Salzburg and Munich from UK airports, many of which are operated by Ryanair, Easyjet, Thompson Fly and Jet2. If you are flying to either Salzburg or Munich, it is possible to take a direct train to Bad Gastein from either Munich or Salzburg Central Train Station (Hauptbahnhof). The trains in Austria are operated by OBB, click here for their website. For wider rail information, the German Deutsche Bahn (Die Bahn) website allows you to plan a train journey from anywhere in Europe. From the railway station in Bad Gastein, if you have luggage, we recommend you take a taxi to the apartment. Ask for 19 Reiltstrasse or the Excelsior Hotel which is next door. A taxi from the railway station to the apartment is approx. 8 Euro. | ||||||||||||||||||

Bad Gastein is approx. 1 hour 20 mins south of Salzburg, a 2.5 hour drive from Munich and a 3 hour drive from Vienna. Those driving from the UK, it's a 11.5 hour drive from Calais (1216km or 755 miles). The Gastein Valley is only accessible through tunnels at the north and southern ends of the valley. The tunnel at the southern end is a rail tunnel but it is possible to take your car on the train. If you travel to the apartment and want to drive your own or a hire car, we can forward accurate direcions to Apartment Graukogel before your stay. NOTE: If you drive in Austria between the months of November and April, the law states that you must have winter tyres fitted to your car. | |||||||||||||||||
